About TriadWorks
TriadWorks is the collaborative initiative of six Workforce
Development Boards in the North Carolina Triad region.
The six WDBs, in conjunction with the WIRED project, have
come together to promote regional economic development, building
upon each individual WDB's strengths, and committed to building
a workforce and support system for it that can meet the needs
of any employer in the world.
What is workforce development?
It is building an education and training system that works
with economic developers to ensure that new and current businesses
can find local employees that can rapidly and effectively
contribute to the success of a business. It is about
developing a skilled workforce that is adaptable to changes
in the future, and it is about individuals building successful
careers and having a good quality of life.
What is a Workforce Development Board?
Workforce Development Boards are local private-public partnerships
that manage and direct the federal and state resources designed
for workforce development. The board consists of individuals
from private business, government and community groups, with
the Chair and Vice-Chair being private sector business persons.
Their mission is to decide the best ways to invest the available
resources -- in training, education and support services for
employees -- to best meet the local needs of businesses.
